When I have Honda Accord parked next to my Tacoma. Both vehicles rush me on the amount of time I have to go open the doors after I unlock them with the remote before they lock themselves up again. Vice versa. Then I have to go back inside the house for the key to unlock them because I didnt know they would lock themselves up again. -.-

Scotty , you have no idea what you're talking abou about, the reason why the car wouldn't start is not because of RF, it's because the car has a voltage sensor control module that keeps the car in check and stops the run mode when the car senses an abnormally low voltage or over current draw. RF will not effect this vehicle. "Electronics Engineer for over 50 years"

Hey scotty, what about the inverter that uses the adapter that plug in the cigarette charger port? Are they safe to use?
Jose Chaves Porras
Jose Chaves Porras 4 hours ago
Well the first thing I will say is, yes using cheap adapters is not a good idea. Most of the adapters just have a linear regulator that basically dissipate the rest of the energy in heat that can make your adapter very very hot. Other ones will have a buck converter that will be a lot more efficient and that uses a PWM DC signal of high frequency to achieve the desire voltage , not an AC signal. Now, yeah buck converters can introduce noise to your system, that is why using a good manufacture that know what electric components use to reduce the noise its important.

Wonderful video Scotty, as usual. I will certainly unplug the cheap 2-USB adapter I have in my car. You were wrong, however, in the beginning of the video. Scientists actually have a very good idea about how electromagnetism works, being able to describe it classically and quantum mechanically. It's gravity that's the problem, which cannot currently be described in quantum mechanics. Apart from that, I thought your video was very informative! Thank you! I drive a latest Toyota Corolla 1.8 CVT and I have a charger plugged in all the time. When it's not charging a phone, it's charging a flashlight. And I even charge my aircraft batteries in the car with a company supplied charger that I got with the aircraft kit. And I have never felt any issues with the car's electronics. But I would really like to plug in that Qualcomm charger. So where should I send you my address? Thank you for making all those nice videos.

My car ABS light, lights up because of this.

The problem isn't even cheap adapters. Well, not cheap retail prices at least. You could buy a $50 adapter that was assembled in the same factory as the cheap one you were using and have the same problem. There isn't much oversight or enforced regulations on what people are allowed to say about their electronics. "Qualcomm certified" is on all kinds of devices that have no such certification. And even some which are certified can have excess interference and a lack of shielding despite it being extremely cheap to do. A penny saved a million earned.

Scotty =-0 ?!? Love Ur vids, but gotta point sumptn out, here. You advised getting an inverter for primarily electronics, but didn't caution people about buying cheap MSW (Modified Sine Wave) inverters. Sensitive electronics need pure sine wave inverters, or the dirty electricity of the cheapo inverters can destroy your gizmos. Pay a lil extra for a PSW inverter. It'll pay for itself. Phones, laptops, etal ain't cheap.

I have bought the cheap ones. First they did not pull enough juice to charge my smartphone. After a few days I could not use the push button start like you said. I had a friend tell me to unplug the adapter. About twenty minutes later it started. Never had a problem when I bought a better one.
So Dollar Tree's $1.00 usb charger would be a really bad choice then eh Scotty?

This had to be one of the best advise videos ever for folks decking out that brand new ride. For those who really need a large power source, Scotty's suggestion of wiring a quality (get a pure sine wave unit for sensitive electronics) direct to the battery is SPOT ON. Installed in modern cars with big alternators, you will own a wonderful emergency power backup. It will not replace a good gen-set but will get you past short term trouble.

Here is my clean, non offensive comment. Thank you for uploading this video. I didn't realize those put out RF signals. I got a decent double one by Anker, that is the only one I use. I also have a 300 watt inverter which doesn't have any USB connectors on it though. It has the DC adapter on the wires, I'm going to cut it off and splice wires to run it to the battery.

So my abs and traction lights were on for some reason. I had a cheap SafeTech USB charger that I bought from Office Depot. The one with the seatbelt cutter on it. I took it out and my abs and traction lights turned off. So thanks, Scotty! So it seems like it was keeping my abs from communicating with the system. So, my abs started working again. When my abs started working again realized there's a cable that needs to be replaced. It's causing my abs to misfire.......fixed one problem just to fix another. Can't wait to get rid of this damn Impala, lol. Went to the junkyard to grab a mirror for my Impala, there's was soooo many un-wrecked Impalas there.

A down converter doesn't use coils and AC, it uses pulses. It should have filtering to reduce the conducted emissions which is what is messing up the RF systems in the car. And the filter should include inductance, which is similar to a coil.
