Well, this flight was exciting, to say the least! Luckily it was a learning experience for both me and Matt! Whenever you have an airplane medical emergency doctors do have an ethical but no legal obligation to help. After this event, I thought it might be nice to do a dedicated video to Airplane Medical Emergencies and in general what is expected of doctors and passengers. If you're game for that please let me know in the comments!
Thanks, Defranco for the shoutout! Check out his channel here: usvid.net/u-philipdefranco

If you have an idea of something you want me to cover in-depth, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. We will be back with more Doctor Reacts Series & Responding to Comments so please submit more names of shows/episodes & questions you'd like for me to watch. Love you all!

I'm surprised that he has prescribed prednisone but not given epinephrine. I have an autoimmune disease and when I was prescribed prednisone and a handful of other antihistamines, they'd given me an Avui-Q in the case that the inflammation spread to my throat

absolutely wonderful job saving that man, and for using this platform to spread awareness of both that obscure tick thing and lack of epipens on planes!

Make Cellos Great Again
I was on a 15 hr flight back to LA from the Philippines around 2 weeks ago and around 9 hours in, a man a few rows behind me started to choke on some of the lunch given by the flight attendants. There was a guy trying to help him, but he was only doing back blows instead of the Heimlich maneuver and the back blows weren't helping. Before I was able to get to them and help, another passenger in behind him began to take over and got the blockage dislodged. It was pretty nerve-racking and now I'm retaking the CPR classes in my local hospital because I want to be able to help in case an emergency like that happens again

I don't understand why Epipens in US are so expensive. I thought 53$ was pricey in Norway until I saw the comments.

On his way to work for a non-profit in Israel, saves a life on the airplane there. All while wearing an extremely tight shirt. Doctor Mike is a real life super hero!

I remember reading a story about a black female doctor who helped someone that was in distress on a delta flight and the flight attendants gave her hell constantly checking her medical license and asking her again and again if she was a doctor and questioning her while she was helping this individual . I love you and what you do and all your videos but it’s things like this that get my blood boiling . Clearly you had no issues with getting them to believe you were a doctor and you said you didn’t have on shoes and basically looked like a run down random , and yet you had no problems . I dream of going to medical school and being a doctor I’m just so afraid of the natural biases people have and winding up in a situation like that.

I want to say this with the utmost respect guys don't attack me, he's a doctor. That's what he does. I'm very thankful for what he did and that he was there. I'm not saying he isn't a hero. He is. But it's what he does.
klarissa 2 hours ago
Of course it's his job is to save lives and I agree with you, but also consider the fact that doctors aren't trained to know how to handle a deadly crisis with limited equipments outside the medical office/hospitals. Dr. Mike had to think outside the box to adjust to the situation in order of saving the person's life. I think that's why people are praising him a lot.
